GROOM/BARN ASSISTANT – Full Time

Sperry View Farm is a busy professional training and boarding equestrian facility in Bethany, Connecticut with 3 trainers and approximately 30 horses boarding, all set on 27 acres. The farm has two indoor and one outdoor arena, as well as a large cross-country schooling field and we are adjacent to miles of incredible trails.

The farm hosts 5 one-day dressage shows each year (3 Recognized and 2 Schooling Shows), in addition to dozens of clinics, talks, and training opportunities, specializing in dressage and eventing training.

We are seeking a GROOM/BARN ASSISTANT. This position is suited to someone who is able to provide uncompromising care not only to our equine clients but also to our owner clients. The SVF team works very hard to continue to deserve the excellent reputation we have earned.

QUALIFICATIONS - Minimum of 1-3 years in a similar facility, with demonstrated experience working in a professional boarding and/or training stable, or the equivalent. Please note that this is not a riding position, but you will have access to use the facility as client scheduling allows.

RESPONSIBILITIES - may include, but are not limited to: Feeding, turning out and in, grooming and tack care, and providing support for our trainers, as well as other farm-related duties.  You will occasionally be asked to help with stall cleaning, but this is not a regular part of the position.

This is a full time (40+ hours/week), permanent position.  The hours are generally 6:00 am - 4:30 pm, however, flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, is a must. The successful candidate can live in the spacious, renovated farmhouse on-site and will be allowed to board one horse at no charge in addition to an hourly salary. Relocation assistance may be considered for the successful candidate.

Please send a resume and cover letter to Liz Doering at info@sperryviewfarm.com - absolutely no phone calls.
