MEET OUT TRAINERS!

LIZ DOERING - OWNER & TRAINER

Liz grew up in Bethany riding horses as a member of the Sleeping Giant Pony Club.  Her early focus was on Eventing and Mounted Games competitions.  During her years in college and graduate school, she would catch a ride as much as her schedule allowed until she was finally able to purchase a horse after completing her education.

After working in the Health Care industry for almost 15 years Liz decided to pursue her lifelong dream of owning a farm in 2012 by buying Sperry View Farm.  This is also when she started to focus her own riding on Dressage while still staying involved in the Eventing world through being a Cross Country Control for some USEA Area 1 Horse Trials.

Liz has achieved her USDF Bronze and Silver Medals and is starting her journey towards a USDF Gold Medal.  She remains involved with the United States Pony Club becoming a National Chief Horse Management Judge and a National Examiner.  Liz has also served on numerous committees within the USPC.

REBECCA THERON - TRAINER

Rebecca fell in love with horses at an early age and went on to ride and compete in the local children's hunter and equitation divisions. As a professional, Rebecca has successfully prospected, trained and competed horses in a variety of disciplines.

Previously, Rebecca served as head trainer at a large Hunter/Jumper facility in Litchfield, CT.

Rebecca is also passionate about working with young riders. Previously, she successfully coached two IEA teams bringing them successfully to Regional, Zone, and National finals.

Although Rebecca's training has focused primarily on the Hunter/Jumper disciplines, she has also successfully competed in both Dressage and Eventing. Over the years, Rebecca has had the opportunity to broaden her depth of experience by working with notable professionals including Kip Rosenthal, Lainie Wimberly, Ann Guptil, Vicki Hammers-O’Neil, and Michael and Nathalie Pollard.

When working with a new prospect, Rebecca is able to draw from her broad range of training and experience, which is built on a basic dressage foundation, to determine the best discipline match for the horse.

Outside of the barn, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family.

JESSICA RIZZI - TRAINER

Jessica is a USDF Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medalist. She has competed in Regional Championships on a variety of breeds/horses at every level; Training level through Grand Prix.  As a young rider, Jessica earned a Gold medal at the FEI Jr Championships, a Silver Medal at the North American Youth Championships, and a Silver Medal at the FEI 5-year-old Young Horse Championships.

Jessica spent 10 years working and training with Lendon Gray in Bedford, NY.  She trained with Sue Blinks and Nancy Later in Wellington, Florida. Jessica spent 2 years in Germany training with Klaus Balkenhol, later returning to the States to train for another 2 years with Tina Konyot.

All of these amazing opportunities helped develop Jessica’s approach to training happy and confident horses and riders.

HEATHER

HEATHER CORMIERBARN MANAGER

A New Englander, growing up in central Massachusetts, our barn manager Heather Cormier has been working with horses for almost a decade. Heather originally started in a lesson barn, and since then has gained extensive work experience in several equestrian disciplines, including dressage, eventing, and hunter/jumper. Having a special love for dressage and eventing, she feels especially fortunate to join the team at SVF!

Additionally, Heather has groomed for trainers at the Vermont Summer Festival for two years, as well as at Fieldstone Park. Her previous experience as barn manager at another barn as well as her strong commitment to our clients (both four- and two-legged) make her a great addition to the SVF family! In her spare time, Heather takes advantage of the local trails hiking with her dog, Scout.

TINA

TINA HALPIN - BARN ASSISTANT/GROOM

Tina’s life long passion is working and caring for horses, with over 20 years of experience working at different equine farms and over 25 years in the saddle. It all began riding and working under professionals like Jenny Martin-McAllister, Susan Horn, and Liz Doering; in recent years Kristen Abbitello, and Jane Dow-Burt. While hunter/jumpers are her bases, she also has done time in western pleasure, trail heading, and breaking/training young horses. Knowledge is power as Tina has been head groom, barn manager, rider, and lesson program director for different facilities. In doing so she is always working on continuing her education and expanding her availability as an insured professional.

When Tina is not with the horses she enjoys her time with her husband and three kids doing all of their activities.

JAMIE

JAMIE WILLSON - BARN ASSISTANT/GROOM

Jamie found her love of horses at the young age of 7 and hasn’t looked back! Living in Connecticut her entire life, Jamie began a working student position at the age of 12 and continued until she began college at Centenary University, studying Equine Science. While in school, she purchased her first horse, Berra, a nine-year-old OTTB. Being a student and horse owner, Jamie continued to earn money and experience working as a barn assistant/groom while attending school. After graduation, Jamie worked at a Small Animal Vetinerary practice before joining us at SVF as Barn Assistant/Groom.
